The phrase "Ascend the Network" functions simultaneously as a directive, a philosophical statement, and a mantra within Remilia communities. It encourages active participation in digital networks not merely as a social activity but as a form of cognitive and spiritual ascension.[2]
The slogan's core meaning contains several interconnected layers:
- Evolutionary progression: It suggests that networked connection represents the next stage in human cognitive evolution, moving beyond individual consciousness toward collective intelligence.
- Spiritual transcendence: The term "ascend" deliberately evokes spiritual imagery of rising to higher states of being, positioning network participation as a quasi-religious practice.
- Agentive response: Rather than passively accepting technological acceleration, it encourages active participation in shaping network dynamics and collective consciousness.
- Eschatological reframing: By reformulating "Immanentize the Eschaton," it suggests that digital networks might enable a form of secular eschatology – not the literal end of the world, but a transformative evolution of human consciousness.

The phrase gained prominence as Remilia developed its philosophical frameworks, becoming a shorthand reference to the broader concept of network accelerationism.
Charlotte Fang has noted that "Ascend the Network" was intentionally developed as a positive, technologically-oriented reformulation of the concept "Immanentize the Eschaton" – a theological idea referring to attempts to bring about the end of history and establish heaven on earth through human action.[4] While the original phrase often carries negative connotations of dangerous utopianism, "Ascend the Network" reframes the concept as an aspirational call for collective consciousness evolution through digital means.
Within the context of Remilia's other mantras like "Radical Love Through the End Times is the only vibe that Vibes," "Ascend the Network" represents a technologically-focused complement, addressing how to navigate and transcend acceleration through active network engagement rather than merely adopting a posture of radical acceptance toward it.[5]
The slogan also connects to Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's concept of the Omega Point – the idea that evolution progresses toward a state of maximum complexity and consciousness.
