Pilotis are columns or stilts used to lift a building above ground level. In Le Corbusier's architecture they form one of the five points, opening the ground beneath living spaces for movement and other uses.[1]
At the Villa Savoye, slender reinforced-concrete pilotis support the house while allowing a covered route for cars below it.[1]
