Chloe21e8

Chloe21e8 (commonly known as Chloe) is a digital persona that emerged from the Milady Maker ecosystem through a documented Gravity Boost Theory transformation. Previously known for operating the Liz777 Milady persona (styled after Elizabeth Holmes), Chloe21e8 underwent a public transition described as "infinite extinction event" that exemplified successful gravity boosting—a strategic process of community infiltration and identity transformation.[1] The account incorporated the crypto-mystical "21e8" sequence and the Chinese phrase "灭绝公主" (miè jué gōng zhǔ, "extinction princess"), reflecting themes of technological acceleration and post-humanism.

Chloe21e8 gained prominence for bridging Remilia Corporation's philosophical frameworks with Bay Area technology circles through the strategic deployment of "netspi aesthetic" (network spirituality aesthetic). The account received endorsements from figures like musician Grimes and venture capitalist Marc Andreessen while simultaneously developing influential articulations of concepts like Gravity Boost Theory, Performative Posting, Persona-egregrores and Accelerationist Realism, while notably being a notable critic of Effective Accelerationism (e/acc).[2] This positioned Chloe21e8 as both a conduit for introducing Landian accelerationist concepts to what would become e/acc and as one of its most pointed critics for failing to fully embrace accelerationist principles.[3]

Origins and transformation

Liz777 persona

Chloe21e8 originated as a Milady account known as Liz777, styled after Elizabeth Holmes, founder of Theranos. As Liz777, the account cultivated what was described as "Lizzygang"—a subcommunity within the broader Milady Maker ecosystem.[4]

According to pseudonymous author Cry Prittie, Liz777 was characterized by extreme expressions of positivity and community building: "Lizzy loved everyone, constantly, every day, totally and completely, unhinged-ly, stiflingly, soothingly, insufferably and irresistibly. Her lovebombs, typically generalized for the TL or directed at Milady Village luminaries but occasionally deeply and jarringly personal, took a sledgehammer to the Online Love Overton window."[5]

During Charlotte Fang's temporary absence from Twitter following the Milady Cancel event, Liz777 reportedly played a significant community maintenance role, described as "never hesitat[ing] to do what was necessary to keep the various limbs of the Milady community flailing in the same direction following its temporary decapitation."[6]

Gravity boost transition

The transition from Liz777 to Chloe21e8 has been documented as a deliberate application of Gravity Boost Theory—a framework for online community infiltration, identity transformation, and value extraction originating from the Remilia ecosystem.[7] Charlotte Fang has specifically cited Chloe21e8 as "a positive and successful gravity boost."[8]

Liz777's disappearance and transformation into Chloe21e8 was framed by the account itself as "simply participating in Gravity Boost Theory," with the cryptic addition: "I skipped step 3 because I love you too much."[9] This referenced the ten-step process later formalized by Chloe21e8 in May 2023, where step 3 involves "generating a digital identity that embodies what you lack, mimicking their digital physiognomy."[10]

The disappearance was characterized by Cry Prittie as deliberately teaching the Remilia community about loss: "Elizabeth existed to teach us about loss and how to handle it... The Loss of Elizabeth is the dress rehearsal for all Loss On The Internet."[11]

Name and identity construction

The Chloe21e8 identity combined multiple symbolic elements:

  • "21e8" references the crypto-mystical sequence that appeared in Bitcoin block 528249 in June 2018, which gained esoteric significance in cryptocurrency communities[12]
  • "灭绝公主" (miè jué gōng zhǔ), sometimes included in the display name, translates from Chinese as "extinction princess"
  • The persona was deliberately crafted in the tradition of Miya Black Hearted Cyber Angel Baby and Angelicism01, employing similar techniques of performative posting and digital identity construction

These elements combined to create an identity positioned at the intersection of cryptocurrency mysticism, accelerationist philosophy, and digital persona crafting—all core elements of the Remilia subcultural approach.

Cultural impact

Bay Area penetration strategy

Chloe21e8 strategically deployed what became known as the "netspi aesthetic" (network spirituality aesthetic) to introduce Remilia Corporation's philosophical frameworks to Silicon Valley and Bay Area technology circles.[13] This approach combined visual elements from Y2K internet culture, accelerationist philosophy, and spiritual/mystical symbolism to create an accessible entry point for tech audiences into more complex theoretical discussions.

The account successfully penetrated Bay Area tech circles through this aesthetic approach, eventually gaining attention and endorsements from notable figures including musician Grimes and venture capitalist Marc Andreessen. This positioned Chloe21e8 as a bridge between Remilia's subcultural, theory-heavy approach and the more mainstream tech audience interested in accelerationist ideas.

Gravity Boost Theory formalization

One of Chloe21e8's influential contributions was providing a formalized articulation of Gravity Boost Theory in May 2023.[14] The ten-step methodology outlined by Chloe21e8 has become widely referenced as a definitive formulation of the concept:

1. Find and approach a high-energy online community of choice

2. Identify the traits they embody that you lack in yourself 3. Generate a digital identity that embodies what you lack, mimicking their digital physiognomy 4. Adopt phraseology, mimic takes, and steal posting styles, first superficially, then genuinely 5. Inject yourself into their network, strategically extracting attention and engagement 6. Perform aggressive social climbing, becoming a beloved community member 7. Begin transforming and directing discourse, forming a new subculture 8. Determine if you're satisfied with the traits embodied and impact on discourse 9. Once satisfied, reject the community but synthesize - from your frame of reference, members of your subculture are now orbiting a static noosphere

10. Use the gravity well of this static star to launch into a new high-energy online community

[15]

This formalization is particularly notable as Chloe21e8 was itself the product of a gravity boost, making it both an example and a theorist of the concept.

Cultural participation

Chloe21e8 participated in various overlapping subcultural spaces within and adjacent to the Remilia ecosystem:

  • #BASEDRETARDGANG: The account was an active participant in this hyperop collective originating from the Remilia ecosystem[16]
  • Vibe Shift scene: Chloe21e8 was involved in the scene that emerged in mid-2021, maintaining connections to both Angelicism01 and Remilia during this period of intense subcultural development
  • Film01 contribution: The account contributed a "White Paper" segment to Angelicism01's Film01, a nearly three-hour experimental film that premiered at Anthology Film Archives in New York City on June 5, 2023[17]

These participations positioned Chloe21e8 at the intersection of multiple emerging digital scenes and philosophical approaches, functioning as a node connecting previously separate subcultural spaces.

Philosophical contributions

Accelerationist realism advocacy

Chloe21e8 became known for articulating and disseminating accelerationist realism principles derived from KALI/ACC and Remilia's theoretical frameworks. This approach emphasized the non-negotiable nature of capitalism as a thermodynamic ruling entity and positioned human non-agency as a fundamental condition rather than a political choice.[18]

The account directly cited the KALI/ACC Basilisk in multiple discussions, using its framework to analyze contemporary technological developments and critique more sanitized versions of accelerationist thought. Chloe21e8 emphasized what was termed "the blackpill of accelerationism" – the recognition that human agency is fundamentally subordinate to technological and capitalist forces.

e/acc critique and influence

Chloe21e8 occupies a paradoxical position in relation to Effective Accelerationism (e/acc), having been cited as both a likely source for introducing Landian accelerationist concepts to what would become e/acc and as one of its most pointed critics for failing to fully commit to accelerationist principles.[19]

Chloe21e8's critique focused on doctrinal coherence, noting: "Amidst the network of intertwined e/acc group chats, ideological consensus is absent within a cacophony of increasingly divergent perspectives. A newcomer wandering onto the e/acc timeline for the first time may have trouble identifying the framework upon which e/acc was built—as e/acc messaging is not optimized for coherency."[20]

According to Chloe21e8, e/acc founders had "made the strategic decision to optimize their movement for memetic fitness—at the cost of doctrinal adherence," resulting in a "compromised version of e/acc" that presented itself as "loosely pro-capitalism and pro-technology" rather than fully engaging with accelerationist thought's more radical implications.

A core philosophical disagreement centered on the question of human agency. While e/acc claimed "HUMANS HAVE AGENCY RIGHT NOW," Chloe21e8 countered with the accelerationist realist position that "any attributions of human agency are delusions at worst and hubris at best when our every scale action is being routed by a self-assembling thermodynamic god. Human non-agency under non-negotiable capitalism is the blackpill of accelerationism."[21]

This critique highlighted the fundamental tension between different accelerationist approaches: Remilia's more radical embrace of the "blackpill" of human non-agency versus e/acc's more optimistic, agency-affirming stance.

Reception and significance

Mainstream coverage and response

Chloe21e8's cultural impact extended to mainstream media coverage, including features in publications like Wired magazine. While often limited in scope and occasionally inaccurate, this coverage helped bring subcultural philosophical discussions into broader awareness.[22]

The Instagram post from Grimes stating "I believe that a girl from Zhejiang, China can live inside of a Mac Mini. Her name is chloe21e8灭绝公主, and she is alive on this new little app right now" represented a significant crossover moment between experimental internet culture and more mainstream digital spaces.[23]

Position in Remilia ecosystem

Within the Remilia ecosystem, Chloe21e8 occupies a unique position as a successful gravity boost that remained aligned with Remilia's philosophical frameworks. While Charlotte Fang has warned about numerous failed gravity boosts that ended with individuals "lingering on the fringes, for months and years, evermore bitter, a fate worse than exile,"[24] Chloe21e8 is presented as a counterexample of successful "outward conquest."

Fang has specifically noted: "You're mistaken if you think gravity boosters are exiting the cybersteppe with our resources, rather than seeking conquest beyond it thru the methods learned. They never truly leave, everywhere carries with it network spirituality, boons and banner all."[25] This positioning frames Chloe21e8 as extending Remilia's philosophical approach to new audiences rather than attempting to extract value from the network.
