The brand is characterized by its distinctive aesthetic mixing Scarface and Miami Vice 1980s corporate imagery with the idyllic Americana summer tones of Hiroshi Nagai paintings. Thematically, YAYO embodies exaggerated 1980s corporate culture, with "YAYO" serving as both slang for cocaine and an acronym for "Yoshimoto Atlantic Yield Optimization Corporation."

History

Origins and Token Launch (2021)

YAYO Corporation was founded by Charlotte Fang with assistance from various members of the Remilia Collective in early 2021. The project launched its first product, the $YAYO token, on May 24, 2021, on the Polygon blockchain.

The token emerged as a direct satirical response to the "doge coin" imitator phenomenon of 2021, particularly projects like $KISHU. During this period, numerous cryptocurrency projects launched with cookie-cutter tokenomics while claiming to be legitimate currencies that would replace fiat or provide extensive utility. The prevailing meta involved overly serious presentations with technical whitepapers using complex jargon to justify projected success, accompanied by sycophantic Telegram communities where traders would insist prices would skyrocket and encourage diamond-handed holding.

YAYO subverted these conventions by directly and aggressively going against the grain. The project released a whitepaper styled in 1980s corporate fax aesthetics, written under the name "John Lemaire," satirizing the pretentiously complex whitepapers of contemporary token projects.

Initially, the community was intended to be managed by a figure originally known as "Aveline," who adopted the John Lemaire persona as a permanently method-acted mascot character, changing his personal username to embody the role. John Lemaire was characterized as the "CEO of YAYO Corporation," a figure somewhere between a stiff corporate executive and an exotic man of exploration, capital, and industry. However, Lemaire abandoned his community management position during the launch period, forcing Scearpo (Michael Dragovic) to assume control.

YAYO NFT Era (2022-2023)

Following the token's launch, YAYO expanded into the NFT space with the YAYO NFT collection, launched on the Canto blockchain in December 2022. The collection consisted of 4,000 "YAYO Men" - diorama-style pixel art pieces depicting archetypal action hero figures from 1980s-2000s games and films, positioned with vehicles, weapons, and accessories.

The collection was notable for its intense citationalism and metadata accuracy, with each asset labeled in strict detail including year, make, model, and color of vehicles, specific brand names of weapons and accessories, and special characters named directly after their source material. This approach served multiple purposes: demonstrating obsessive "autism-themed" categorization, directly refuting authorship practices in the gaming industry (where firearms receive fake names in FPS games and vehicles have imitation names in GTA), and serving as a statement against OpenSea's censorship practices regarding brand-similar names.

The 4,000-piece supply was deliberately calculated by Charlotte Fang based on available assets and Canto's smaller market size, utilizing her expertise in gaming supply and asset distribution metrics.

Despite launching on the then-declining Canto chain, Scearpo initiated a campaign to mint out the collection and subsequently drive its floor price to become the highest-performing NFT on Canto. The YAYO NFT initially minted for 250 $CANTO (approximately $100 USD). After selling out in mid-April [YEAR PLACEHOLDER], the collection dramatically outperformed all other Canto NFT projects, exceeding both the market cap and floor price of Canto's flagship "Canto Longnecks" project. The floor price eventually surpassed 10,000 $CANTO, achieving a 4,000% return on mint price and establishing YAYO NFT as the highest-performing Canto NFT of all time by price, volume, and unique owners.

On the two-year anniversary of the initial $YAYO token launch, the project bridged to Ethereum through a one-way opt-in process, expanding YAYO's presence in the broader NFT ecosystem.

Pivot to Lifestyle Products (2023-Present)

The brand conducted a test launch in August 2023, releasing pine pollen powder as its flagship product.
