Background
Felix Kjellberg, known online as PewDiePie, is a Swedish YouTuber who became the most subscribed individual creator on YouTube, reaching 111 million subscribers.[1] In September 2017, during a live stream of the battle royale game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), Kjellberg used a racial slur while crossing a bridge in the game. The clip circulated rapidly and drew widespread criticism, prompting Kjellberg to issue a video apology.
The incident became one of the most discussed controversies in YouTube history. The specific bridge location in the game became inseparable from the incident in internet memory, and the moment is commonly referred to as "the bridge incident" within gaming and internet culture communities.
