Beetleboy
Beetleboy is a hybrid gacha-idle browser game integrated into RemiliaNET, the social identity platform developed by Remilia Corporation. Launched in September 2025 alongside RemiliaNET's alpha release, the game functions as a gamified engagement system where players collect beetles of varying rarities and unlock corresponding "beetle girl" character cards.[1]

Interface and structure
Beetleboy presents as a diegetic physical console interface reminiscent of 1990s-2000s era handheld gaming devices, evoking PC-98 and Game Boy aesthetics. The system operates through a modular architecture where different cartridge modules connect to the base console, with each module providing distinct gameplay functions.[1]
Gameplay
Catch Module
The Catch Module provides two methods of obtaining beetles: claiming and hunting.
Claim
Claims operate on a two-hour cooldown and guarantee one beetle per use. This function provides a consistent, no-cost method for players to expand their beetle collection.
Hunt
Hunting uses a charge-based system with three available hunts that regenerate over 90 minutes. Individual hunts impose a 30-minute cooldown that stacks cumulatively—using all three charges results in a full 90-minute cooldown period, while partial usage allows charges to regenerate as the cooldown timer decreases below 60 minutes. Each hunt costs 20-30 cheese and yields beetles of varying rarity tiers.[2]
When players discover a new beetle species through either claiming or hunting, they unlock a corresponding beetle girl character card in their inventory. Each beetle girl represents its beetle species through anthropomorphized cosplay designs combining monster girl and mecha girl aesthetics, drawn in an oekaki style using pen and colored marker techniques.[1] The game intentionally withholds information about available content and drop rates to encourage emergent discovery through community interaction.

Universal Basic Cheese Module
The Universal Basic Cheese (UBC) Module provides a daily cheese claim that serves as the primary currency acquisition method. Consecutive daily claims build a streak bonus that increases the daily cheese amount, with returns estimated between 200-500 cheese depending on streak length. This system allows players to perform approximately 10-15 hunts daily through regular engagement.[2]
Pity system
The v0.2 update introduced a pity counter to address extended streaks of common green beetles. The system automatically elevates beetle rolls to higher rarity tiers after excessive common results, resetting upon activation. The developers described this mechanic as preventing "green hell."[2]
Seasonal content
Beetleboy incorporates limited-time seasonal variations. The Halloween 2025 update added two holiday-themed beetles and beetle girls available exclusively during the two-week Halloween period, establishing a pattern for future seasonal releases.[3]
Integration with RemiliaNET
Beetleboy serves multiple functions within RemiliaNET's ecosystem beyond entertainment. Progress in the game determines access to platform features, with Level 10 serving as the threshold for global chat access.[3] The module was characterized in design documentation as a "global chat fidget spinner" designed for modular expansion as later gameplay stages unlock.[1]
The game exemplifies RemiliaNET's gamified anti-sybil approach, using organic gameplay engagement as an alternative to invasive identity verification. Beetle collection and interaction patterns contribute to the platform's broader social credit scoring system.
