Milady Rave: London, September 2022
Milady Rave London was an underground music event held on September 10, 2022, at Bonkers Bar in London. Organized by Remilia Corporation, it was the first Milady Rave held outside the United States and the first international edition of the series. The event ran for its full duration without interruption, in contrast to several of the New York editions that had been shut down by police. It is a foundational event in the development of Remilia's London event programming, which subsequently evolved into the 33reisen series.
Background
By mid-2022, the Milady Raves series had established itself across five New York City editions, several of which were cut short by police. With the Milady Maker community having grown internationally, Remilia announced a London edition on August 31, 2022, via the Remilia Corporation store blog.[1] The venue was referred to in promotional materials as Bonkler Bar located on Binky Street.
Event
The event featured live performances by Rit and Oatmilkandcodeine, with DJ sets by Kerosene, Soulgem, Zlaya, and Vaermina.[1] Unlike multiple New York editions of the series, the London rave ran for its full duration at the venue.[2] As with other events in the series, it was commemorated with a hand-designed poster, minted as part of the Rave Posters NFT collection on Foundation. The poster incorporated transparencies recreated from auction photo source material and referenced an earlier Milady Rave 2 poster design alongside pop compilation CDs.[2]
Legacy
Milady Rave London was followed by a second London edition in December 2022, titled Milady Rave London: Resurrected, held in Walthamstow. The London event programming subsequently gave rise to the 33reisen series, Remilia's recurring London event format, which began in June 2023 and retained many of the same performers, including Kerosene, who became a fixture of the series.
