Snow Strippers are an American electronic music duo consisting of Tatiana Schwaninger and Graham Perez.[1] They met in Clearwater, Florida, and began the project together in late 2021.[2] Their debut single, "Keep Holding On", was released in 2021.[1]
History
By May 2023, the duo had moved from Florida to Los Angeles and then Detroit.[2] Perez produces their music and Schwaninger provides vocals, and the pair said they had "full creative control" over the project's visual and social-media work.[2]
Music and releases
Their music combines big-room EDM, trance and witch house, with elements of new rave and shoegaze.[1][2] Perez described the EDM in their sound as dance-oriented music with classic melodies and a "trashy" side.[2]
The duo began by releasing music under their own imprint, Nice Bass Bro, and later issued work in conjunction with Surf Gang.[1] April Mixtape 3 was their third record and their first release through a distribution deal with Surf Gang Records.[2] A promotional artist profile says Snow Strippers collaborated with Lil Uzi Vert twice and describes their North American and European shows as sold out.[1]
The album The Snow Strippers was released on June 30, 2022, and April Mixtape 2 on September 15, 2022; their release listings display ℗ 2022 Nice Bass Bro.[3][4] April Mixtape 3 was released on May 5, 2023, and its listing displays ℗ 2023 Surf Gang Records.[5] A November 2023 release feature described Night Killaz, Vol. 1 as a seven-track collection built around jackhammer drums and heavily distorted vocals.[6] Night Killaz, Vol. 2 followed on May 8, 2024; its listing identifies an eight-song release and displays ℗ 2024 Surf Gang Records, under exclusive license to Decent Distribution.[7]
In June 2024, the duo were interviewed at Primavera Sound during a European tour. The feature described performances at a Year0001 event and London's Trance Party, and reported the pair's emphasis on high-energy live performances.[8]
Reception
A review described Night Killaz, Vol. 1 as fun but monotonous, calling its sound lurid, cheap-sounding EDM pop and comparing it with Crystal Castles and DJ Sammy.[9]
