Content Creation

Creating New Pages

To create a new page:

  1. Search for the page title you want to create
  2. If it doesn't exist, you'll be prompted to create it
  3. Click the link to start a new page with that title

Pages support wiki markup for styling and formatting.

Working with Images

To add images to wiki pages:

  1. First upload your file using the upload file page
  2. Once uploaded, you can embed the file using these syntax patterns:

This displays the full version of the file.

This displays a 200-pixel-wide thumbnail in the left margin with "Caption text" below.

This creates a direct link to the file without displaying it.

Using Templates

Templates provide reusable content blocks like infoboxes and alerts. At the moment, the only template on this wiki is a generic infobox. Click here for usage details and a preview.

If you need an infobox with custom fields, you can:

  • Request one to be created for you
  • Request an import of an existing template from Wikipedia
  • Create your own using the example template as a base

Creating Custom Templates

To create a template with custom fields:

  1. Create a new page named Template:Infobox_xxx (replace "xxx" with your template name)
  2. Copy the contents of Template:infobox_simple as your starting point
  3. Add or remove fields using this pattern:
<tr><th>FIELD</th><td>{FIELD}</td></tr>

Example custom fields:

<tr><th>Cheese</th><td>Cheese Score: {cheese}</td></tr>
<tr><th>Beetle</th><td>This is a {beetle}.</td></tr>
<tr><th>Cigarettes</th><td>I have smoked {cigarettes} cigarettes.</td></tr>

To use your custom template on a page:

Administration Functions

User Management

The wiki currently requires an account for access. Account creation is handled manually.

Page Protection

Administrators can move, delete, and protect pages:

  • To protect a page (prevent unauthorized edits), expand the "More" dropdown in the top nav bar and select "Protect"

Managing Vandalism

To handle problematic edits:

  • View page history by clicking "View History" in the top navigation
  • Compare revisions and roll back to previous versions as needed (all actions are recorded in page history)
  • Block users from the history view or through:
    • Special Pages > Block user to block a user
    • Special Pages > Unblock user to remove a block
