Euljiro

Euljiro is a street and surrounding neighborhood in central Seoul, South Korea. Long associated with printing, manufacturing, hardware, and other small industrial businesses, the area also contains cafés, bars, and cultural spaces alongside its workshops. Seoul's tourism authority describes the coexistence of older industrial premises and newer businesses as a defining feature of the district.

Under Japanese rule the area was called Gokanemachi. In 1946 it was renamed Eulji after Eulji Mundeok, the Goguryeo general who repelled invasions by China's Sui dynasty.[1] The area is sometimes nicknamed Hipjiro in reference to its contemporary nightlife and café culture. Remilia Corporation identified Euljiro, spelled Eul-jiro in its announcement, as the location of Shoichi Aoki's lookbook shoot for HIKKI PUNKS EXIT SOCIETY.[2][3]
