Remilia Wiki:Privacy policy

Privacy policy for Remilia Wiki

This privacy policy explains how Remilia Wiki (wiki.remilia.org), operated by Remilia Corporation, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our wiki.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account through RemiliaNET, we receive your username and, if you provided one, your email address. Your password is handled entirely by RemiliaNET and is never transmitted to or stored by Remilia Wiki.

Automatically collected information

When you access Remilia Wiki, our servers automatically collect:

  • Your IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Pages you visit and timestamps
  • Referring website (if applicable)

This information is used for wiki operation, security, and aggregate analytics.

User contributions

All edits, uploads, and other contributions you make to Remilia Wiki are publicly visible and permanently recorded. Each contribution is associated with your username and a timestamp. This is fundamental to how wikis operate and enables collaborative editing, version history, and accountability.

Page view data

We collect anonymous page view counts to display view statistics on articles. This system uses IP-based rate limiting to prevent abuse but does not store personally identifiable information in connection with page views.

How we use your information

We use collected information to:

  • Operate and maintain the wiki
  • Authenticate users and manage accounts
  • Prevent vandalism and abuse
  • Generate aggregate usage statistics
  • Improve wiki performance and user experience

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Cookies and similar technologies

Remilia Wiki uses cookies for essential functionality:

  • Session cookies - Required to keep you logged in while browsing. These expire when you log out or close your browser.
  • Cloudflare cookies - Used for security and performance optimization by our CDN provider.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels for marketing purposes.

Third-party services

Remilia Wiki relies on the following third-party services:

RemiliaNET

Authentication is handled through RemiliaNET, Remilia Corporation's single sign-on service. When you log in, RemiliaNET verifies your identity and provides your username to the wiki. RemiliaNET's privacy practices are governed by its own policies.

Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare for content delivery, security, and performance optimization. Cloudflare may collect technical information about your connection as part of providing these services. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.

Public nature of contributions

Your contributions to Remilia Wiki are public by design. When you edit a page or upload a file:

  • Your username and the timestamp are recorded in the page history
  • Your edit is visible to all wiki readers
  • Your contribution becomes part of the permanent historical record
  • Your content is licensed under the Viral Public License

Consider this before contributing. If you prefer anonymity, you may use a pseudonymous username, but your editing patterns may still be observable.

CheckUser tool

For the purpose of combating vandalism and abuse, a limited number of trusted administrators (bureaucrats) have access to the CheckUser tool. This tool allows them to view the IP addresses associated with user accounts.

  • CheckUser access is restricted to bureaucrats
  • All CheckUser queries are logged and auditable
  • This tool is used only for investigating abuse, not routine monitoring

Data retention

  • Contributions - Retained indefinitely as part of wiki history
  • Session data - Cleared when you log out
  • Server logs - Retained for a reasonable period for operational and security purposes
  • Account information - Retained while your account exists

Your rights

You may:

  • Access your data - View your contribution history via your user page and preferences
  • Update your preferences - Change your display settings and notification options
  • Request account information - Contact us to request information we hold about your account

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the wiki. The current version will always be available at this page.
