Starstooth Check
Startooth Check is a textile pattern developed by Remilia Corporation as a variation of the traditional houndstooth check, incorporating a star formation into the classic duotone tessellation design.[1] The pattern was initially conceptualized in 2022 and later featured in the Kagami Academy collection released in January 2024.[2]
The design retains the fundamental structure of houndstooth check, a tessellation of alternating light and dark solid checks with light-and-dark diagonally-striped checks, while introducing a distinctive star-shaped silhouette that emerges from the overall composition. This modification integrates a recurring star motif used throughout Remilia Corporation's visual identity into the classical textile pattern.
Technical characteristics
Due to the geometric complexity of creating star formations within the houndstooth structure, Startooth Check cannot be physically reproduced as a traditional woven or stitched textile at normal scales. The pattern exists primarily as a digital design standard for screen applications and as a print pattern for fabric surfaces, rather than as a woven textile construction.
Usage
The pattern has been used across Remilia Corporation's digital platforms and physical merchandise. It notably appeared in the Kagami Academy collection, a pixel NFT project released in conjunction with the FRUiTS x REMiLiA collaboration in January 2024.[3] The pattern serves as both a standalone design element and as a component of the organization's broader visual identity system.
